Sales Transactions This is where the user will spend most of his time, the point where sales are logged. This particular transaction is a partner sale, in which the partner (Phillip Zinkowski) will make a commission on 50% of the total profits. Profit ($1213) is equal to Sale Price ($4495) – Sale Cost ($3282). Half of that is $606. Figures are shown rounded throughout the database, even though the program maintains totally accurate values internally. The commission that P. Zinkowski makes is based on the rate of the primary partner, Emette Grayson, in this case, 40% or $267. The so-called Profile fields at the bottom of the layout tie the sales transaction to the agent data, his employment plan, the shop preferences and the vendor facts that were active at the time of the sale. If, say, the agent got promoted and his commission rate changed, the change would not affect this particular sale. This allows for sales history to be kept as a hot, stable archive. Stock transactions (not shown here) are very similar to sales, involving may of the same values. Stock items are bought by the shop to be sold later. If the CS2030 item in the sample here were sold from stock rather than directly from the vendor, the Item Source would have read, "Stock", rather than "Order". |
