In any case, part of the manuscript got lost, or maybe was used to wrap the fish heads in the next day, amounting to about half the piece or 45 measures. In full knowledge that there are several completions of the work besides mine available on the market, I attempted to climb into the composer's skin and try to think like he did, not merely to complete the piece technically, but to satisfy the fascinating drama begun in the first half. The effort was very much like having to convincingly reconstruct a whole bear from a description of several toenails and a foreleg.
